In 1988, Fred Leuchter, American expert for execution technologies, investigated the alleged gas chambers of Auschwitz and Majdanek and concluded that they could not have functioned as claimed. In 1993, Yours Truly, back then a PhD researcher at the Max Planck Institute in Stuttgart, published a thorough forensic study about the “gas chambers” of Auschwitz. As you will see, these writings run the entire gamut of revisionist publications.

This is a 47 letter-size pages essay about the state of the art of revisionist Holocaust research, its impact, trials and tribulations as perceived in 2003. It introduces and at once summarizes all the articles included in the revisionist anthology Dissecting the Holocaust. This paper gives a pretty comprehensive overview of the revisionist outlook on the “Holocaust” and needless to say in particular about my own views, which haven’t changed much since then. Since when do we know that Six Million Jews died during the Holocaust? Most people think that this was established after the War when the Allies investigated the alleged Nazi crimes during a series of court proceedings. But in his book The First Holocaust, Don Heddesheimer shows that the number can be traced back to newspaper sources going as far back as from before the First World War. This paper is a preface which I wrote for this book back in 2003.
