This essay describes the events that made me doubt the official version of the Holocaust. It describes how I ended up writing a forensic expert report, and it also tries to explain what motivated me to do it, although I knew that I was in for a lot of trouble for doing it.

Doing forensic research on crime scenes of the so-called Holocaust is nothing new. This paper addresses two questions: Should the alleged monstrous crime claimed to have been committed in Auschwitz be subject to careful scrutiny by means of thorough forensic analysis? What forensic examinations of the purported crimes scenes at Auschwitz have been conducted thus far, and with what findings? How are we to assess the results?

This is my “official” PhD thesis, prepared between October 1990 and May 1993 at the Max Plank Institute for Solid State Research in Stuttgart, Germany, in conjunction with the University of Stuttgart. It address a rather exotic topic in the field of theoretical crystallography – in case anyone knows what that is… It’s ivory tower science, paid in full by the German tax payer, to whom I apologize herewith for the resources squandered.

Zyklon B, gypsum granules soaked with highly toxic liquid hydrogen cyanide (HCN), is said to have been used in homicidal gas chambers at Auschwitz to kill about one million inmates, mainly Jews. If HCN encounters rust (iron oxide), they both react and form a very stable blue pigment, which can be analytically detected for decades, if not centuries. This formation of a blue pigment occurred in the walls of a number of Zyklon B delousing chambers, were the Nazis are said to have killed only lice. Analyses of sample taken from alleged homicidal gas chambers, however, show no such residues. So what does that mean? Read on…

Both numerous former concentration camp inmates as well as many camp guards have testified about the atrocities the evil Nazis perpetrated against millions of victims in their camp system. So how could anyone doubt that what they say is true? Before criticizing what these witnesses say (which, btw, is discordant in many ways), one should first look into the value of these statements. This paper investigates the circumstances under which the various testimonies were made, and based on this tries to evaluate the trustworthiness of those statements, irrespective of their contents.
